Meet Jodie Landry of Pieces in Katy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jodie Landry.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My family and I moved to Katy, Texas a little over a year ago from a small Pennsylvania town. I left behind a thriving vintage store that I built from the ground up, filled with hand-selected furniture and decor “pieces” that I would reinvent and give new life to. Moving to a new area and reinventing yourself is tough but not impossible, I landed in Katy and immediately decorated my home and started advertising to help others with theirs. I enjoy all aspects of home decor and am a self-proclaimed diyer.

My job title is furniture artist/drapery fabricator/ upholsterer/ decorator/ curator/ wife/mama/friend. Lol!

My mama is my inspiration. She has always owned her own business in decor as well. Today, I find myself with an appointment book full of sweet clients who are utilizing my skills for custom window treatments, decorating services and making over furniture pieces. I love my job! And I love Texas!

Has it been a smooth road?
Restarting has been pretty smooth. My goal is to find a need in my area and position myself to fill it. My biggest challenge in restarting a business in a new state is that initially, no one knows you or your reputation. But after a few successful jobs, I must say that the community certainly helps to spread the word.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Pieces – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I do it all! I enjoy ALL aspects of home decor and decorating. I want to find it, sew it, make it, paint it. Pieces is evolving. Initially, it was set up to provide vintage and antique furniture pieces to customers wanting a unique and collected look for their home. With the move to Texas, I have quickly revisited an old skill (sewing and transitioned into offering custom window treatments. There are so many 2 story windows here that need to be dressed beautifully! What sets me apart from others is my style- it is relaxed and sophisticated, easy on the eye and a mix of old and new.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Likes: 1. Houston, I love you! people who are resilient, winners! (look at those Astros!) driven, kind and welcoming- you give that small town feel despite being a big city and 2. The food! there are so many great places to eat (I gained 10 pounds since moving here). Dislikes: I am still getting used to I-10- so many lanes and crazy traffic!
