Meet Jodie Fontenot of JodiePilates in Northwest

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jodie Fontenot.

Jodie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have always been interested in health and fitness and staying active and reading everything I could get my hands on health related. As a result, I was always sharing fitness information with friends and family and my advice was often sought after as well. So I decided to make it official and studied to become a Personal Trainer.

I am also a Pilates teacher but my decision to study and become certified to teach Pilates has a different beginning. My desire to teach this method came about after an accident and Pilates was the only form of movement that helped me to heal and feel better. I wanted to be able to share my knowledge and help others to feel their best as well. My Pilates training is in mat work as well as Pilates equipment and helping with Multiple Sclerosis and other Neurological Disorders, such as Parkinson’s, stroke etc. I am also Pink Ribbon Certified to work post breast cancer survivors.

I am always learning and wanting to improve my skills so I enrolled in and received my nutrition certification from Precision Nutrition as a PN1 Coach.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s never a smooth road in business. Just like with any other business you have slow times but, patience, persistence and passion helps.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
My business is in personal training and Pilates and health coaching. I am most proud of the ability to not only help my clients feel better physically but often times I have been told the sessions are the best of their day. Clients leave the sessions feeling energized and better than when they arrived.

What sets me apart from others is no two client sessions are alike. Our bodies are all different, our goals are different, so each session for each client is designed for their specific needs. You not only will get a great workout but you will laugh and have fun. Life is too short not to laugh. My clients are also given tips/ ideas on using what we have covered in the training sessions to apply to their daily lives outside of the studio to keep reaping the benefits.

I work with a broad range of clients from teenagers to seniors, runners, weekend warriors, athletes, figure skaters, golfers etc ( no matter your sport), moms, corporate employees to many dealing with various injuries, aches and as mentioned before those with Neurological disorders and breast cancer survivors.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was always reading/studying and very active.
