Today we’d like to introduce you to Joey Jamison.
Joey, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
As Jesus freaks, I could not remember when or where I was saved. I thought it would be nice to have something to remind me of when & where. As a retired Master electrician, I find myself having to take care of things around the property more and more. As I cleared some of the property, I came across 3 cedar trees. We called every place we could find the number to yet, no one would mill them for us. I couldn’t throw them into the fire so, I build our first mill. As I did the work I found myself liking and wondering what can i do with the wood now, that it is usable. That is when i purchased a CNC router and then a laser and then,,, I love my toys. The ongoing question: when were you saved and where? So, i rededicated myself at or church, I then made a token. One side shows where and the other side show when. Now I always know when I am asked. Today we provide 4 churches with these tokens each time someone is baptized. (at no cost) We make tokens with scripture on them for “Healing”, “The But Token”, “Property of GOD” and many more. We go through thousands of tokens per year and have never charged for any of them. God leads us to whom they belong. People started asking if we could mill their tree and I continued to experiment with what i can do with the trees. And, here we are today. This is our mission
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Each day i start with devotions. As I walk out the door I say, “What are we going to do today?”. & God shows me. At the end of the day I am amazed at what all i have done. The biggest challenge is to surrender to what God wants of me and my fear is always finance but, he has not failed us. I freak out but he comes through every time.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I retired in 2012 as a master electrician. I still hold my licenses but, do not promote. When we started milling trees, I can remember people saying things like, So, you’re going to build furniture? My response was a definite, NO! I am not interested in that at all. God leads me and today, I love making furniture, cutting boards, nick knacks. Even working with Resins. There is so much that can be done with wood.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I love that each day I get to do whatever I want. If I want to mill or make a shelf or table or paper weight. I find my piece in letting God lead me.
