Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Brindley.
Hi Jonathan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I originally started out producing music, primarily electronic music. I had gone to school for Audio Engineering and at the time, my goal was be a music artist and make electronic music. That is how my name Abiss originally started. After some time, my interest slowly faded. I began making art pieces under my Abiss and one day a close friend of mine said that the piece would look cool on a T-shirt. A year went by and one day I woke up and said you know what I’m gonna make some t-shirts. After I had delivered a projector to a video artist in Los Angeles in a warehouse, I discovered screen printing and the art of making T-shirts. After that I was addicted and began making T-shirts, Hoodies and other items. Here we are today, and now I’m making serigraphs and have custom clothing pieces. I have plans to eventually open my own retail location and warehouse.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road. There were days were I wanted to give up. You go through your ups and downs, and that’s were your passion is truly tested.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I primarily specialize in minimal clothing and highly detailed print/art pieces. Currently I am very proud of my custom manufactured pants, shirts and serigraphs. I still have a lots of ideas to make even more detailed pieces, including one of one art pieces. What sets me a part from others is my artwork is unique and I continue to push boundaries.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I would say that I’m left handed and my dad was an artist.
