Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Calhoun.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I began as a hobbyist photographer while traveling as a musician. I was inspired by the art all around me as I got to see little pieces of the world and I wanted a way to capture my vision and share it with those around me. I maintained a full-time job in management while I took my off days to learn and apply my skills with photography, until early 2017, when I decided to take the leap and go full time in a career that I loved. Since then, I have begun to establish myself in the Wedding scene in the greater Houston area for Photography and Video, and plan to continue to grow myself and my brand in the years to come!
Please tell us about your art.
As an artist, my passion is to turn people into art. My main goal when I am shooting is to create a version of my subject that they are unable to see in themselves. It is easy to point out your own flaws and get lost in them, I think a photographers job is to show a beautiful new perspective that can redefine a person self-image.
Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
Surround yourself with people who are better than you at a craft or people who have the same desire to grow. It will inspire you daily and give you a different view on what you think you know.
