Today we’d like to introduce you to Juan Cardenas and Maria S Peretz.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My Mother and I started the business back in 2004. At the time we were selling work uniforms out of the back of a Family Van, we used to drive from junk yard to junk yard around Cullen Boulevard Between the Sam Houston Loop and 610. After couple of months people starting asking for a permanent location so they can go and buy from us instead of moving around so much so we decided to open up a location at the old Flea Market located at 45 Fwy and Airport Blvd. From there we started building many loyal customers and Now after 14 years we are opening our Store at 1811 Strawberry Rd, Pasadena TX 77502. Our hard work and dedication is paying off and we now will be able to have our own little place. We couldn’t be here without the help of my Dad (Stepfather) Jean C Peretz. He had trust in us and he is helping up be where we are now. We still a Small Family Business and we are planning on being here Serving and Helping our Customers for many more years to come.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like any other small business we had to sacrifice a lot of things to be able to buy our merchandise and built our customers. At the time many companies wouldn’t sell us merchandise because we didn’t have a permanent location and we were not able to buy as much as they required to set up new accounts. During the years we started building more customers and some companies started giving us credit accounts to be able to sell their products and to help us grow. Now we still a Small Family Store Business but I’m proud of saying that we have some of the best prices in town. Many of our customers started bringing their friends, family and co-workers to the store during hard times. We owe our success to every one of them that been there for us as we been there for them in times of need.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about J & K WORK CLOTHES – what should we know?
We specialized on New and Used FRC Work Uniforms. We came from Mexico chasing the American Dream like everyone else and after 14 years we still going stronger than ever. Hard work and Dedication are finally paying off. We recently purchase a Commercial Building located at 1811 Strawberry Rd and finally going to have our own little shop. My son Juan Cardenas served 5 years as an Infantry Man and Now he is back helping us grow our business. My husband Jean Claud was able to help us financially to be where we are now and most important Our Loyal Customers that been with us since day one.
What set us apart from any of the other Big Company is that we still a real Family Own and Operated Business. You can find me (Maria Peretz) walking around helping customers and sewing patches and flags, my son will be working every day off the week from 10am to 8pm and my husband weekends. (Juan writing) Like Bun B of UGK said ” You can be who you want to be, live life how you feel. Just put your faith in the Lord! Now that’s keeping it trill for real”
Hard work and Dedication got us here and Now we are here to help our customers on any way we can. We strive to be the best on the industry and by taking care of our customers and building a strong relationship with them one day we hope to grow even more. Customer Care is our priority and we know that the same way they need us we also need them even more. We still a Small Mom and Pop Store but we are being recognized just as much as the Big Retail Chains Stores but be sure I will work 100 times harder to keep your business.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Customer Services, Hard work and Dedication are been the key to our success. If you take care of your customers they will recommend you and bring new customers in the next tune they visit. We are open to help everyone by giving them a fair and reasonable price on everything we can. Is a saying “Big Bank takes Little Bank” Bigger Corporations sometimes have better pieces but that doesn’t mean that they share those benefits with the end user “Our Customers”. If we get better prices and closeouts on merchandise we give our customers the same discounts we get. Having a Strong Customer base is the key of any successful business.
