Today we’d like to introduce you to Juan and Felix Lopez.
Juan and Felix, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
In March 2002, after having gained almost two decades of experience in the shutter industry, we finally opened our own firm, Rolltex Shutters.
We started in the family garage, after 8 months in the business, we rented a 1200 sq. foot warehouse and today we owned a 5500 Warehouse with 2500 office and showroom space.
We specialize in the custom manufacture and installation of hurricane shutters as well as a complete line of other Hurricane and sun protection products.
Rolltex is a true family operation, having our spouses taking care of the office. Elena, Felix’s wife takes care of all the accounting and customer service while Maria, my wife is the inside sales and also customer service.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We had some great years and some slow years…
Trying to compete with other companies especially the ones that don’t have insurance and a lot of overhead as our company has been hard in the slow years… but we keep working hard to bring the best to our customers.
Rolltex Shutters – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Rolling Shutters is our number one product, is a great product for hurricane, security and sun protection.
Juan or Felix are always at the installation sites supervising and making sure the customer is satisfied.
We don’t subcontract labor.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Bidding and getting awarded to the University of Houston, the City of Houston and the University of Texas jobs.
