Today we’d like to introduce you to Julia Servetnik.
Hi Julia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
From a young age, I found joy in exploring various forms of arts and crafts. As a child, I especially liked knitting, painting, and shaping clay into pottery. However, it was my academic journey that revealed a surprising connection between my childhood hobbies and my future career in dentistry. During my college years, I pursued a degree in Kinesiology, the study of human movement and anatomy. It provided me with a profound understanding of biomechanics, proprioception, and the interplay between structure and function. These insights not only deepened my appreciation for the complexity of human physiology but also laid the foundation for my transition into dentistry.
In dentistry, I found the perfect fusion of science and artistry, where a keen understanding of anatomical dynamics is coupled with the craftsmanship of restoring form and function. Just as a painter meticulously shapes a canvas or a potter molds clay, a dentist sculpts smiles, blending technical expertise with aesthetic sensibility.
My dental education helped me develop my clinical skills but also instilled in me a profound sense of responsibility towards promoting oral health and enhancing patients’ quality of life.
During this period, I was often drawn to projects that involved children, whether it was delivering educational oral health presentations in schools or volunteering at Head Start programs. I decided to continue my training and specialize in pediatric dentistry. I went on to complete a 2-year pediatric dental residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, where I met my future husband, who was also my classmate. Today, my husband and I are founders and owners of Cavity Patrol Pediatric Dentistry. We are proud to offer a fun, comfortable, and informative dental experience to our young patients and their families.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The path to discovering dentistry was anything but straightforward. Growing up in an immigrant, underserved family meant navigating the educational system without the usual resources and guidance. It was a journey fraught with obstacles, but I was fortunate to have unwavering support from my family and invaluable mentorship along the way. Dental school, renowned for its competitiveness and demanding curriculum, was no small feat. With a minimum of eight years required to earn a dental degree and an additional two years for specialization in pediatric dentistry, the road ahead seemed daunting. Yet, fueled by determination and the desire to make a difference, I pressed on.
Venturing into business ownership was yet another leap of faith. Amidst the stresses and uncertainties of the COVID-19 pandemic, my husband and I embarked on the ambitious endeavor of building and opening our dream dental office. Today, I am immensely proud to see our efforts culminate in the establishment of a second location in Katy, TX.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about Cavity Patrol Pediatric Dentistry?

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Likes: My husband and I love to try different foods. It’s pretty amazing the different cuisines and quality of food Houston has to offer. Options are endless!
Dislikes: The heat and not having four seasons. Those couple of months in the summer can get very hot and humid, especially for someone coming from the East Coast. I don’t mind not having to deal with winter blizzards, but I do miss the New England fall season.
