So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’ve been doing nails since 1988 in your typical nail salon. Getting tired of the limited nail services and sheep herding style of a regular nail salon I decided to venture out and see what all the nail industry have to offer. Since 2013 I have flown statewide to get numerous education on nail art as well as nail health. I am now licensed as an Advanced Nail Technologist, Master Artist and Master Pedicurist as well as Educator and Ambassador for the nail industry. My salon offers anything from a regular manicure and as advanced as toenail reconstruction. I also offer the best in quality products and personal nail services. In the future, I would like to expand my salon so that I will be able to offer nail classes to other nail techs.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, lol. Along the way, I found myself having to stay in the loop so that I can keep up to date on current trends or changes in the industry. Traveling is always expensive and hard on my work schedule but my clients don’t seem to mind at all. They support me in learning so that I can pass on the best nail service to them.
If it weren’t for my clients support it would be very difficult to get to where I am today.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
What sets my salon apart from other salon is that you will get personalized one on one customized services tailored to your need. I offer many different services for natural nail care, nail enhancements, pedicures and also more advanced care for maturing clients. Toenail Reconstruction is the latest craze for clients with missing or injured toenails.
I am most proud of how far my nail education has come since 2013. To say I am now educating for 3 major nail company is a great accomplishment for me. The certificates and awards on my walls speaks for themselves. But being able to share that knowledge with other nail techs and my clients is priceless.
I believe when I get a client they end up staying for life because they’re not just getting their nails and toes done. They are putting themselves in good hands and allowing me to take care of their nail needs. Or maybe they just like the free snacks and soft drinks and booze.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I feel that in every big city with the hustle and fast paced demand of life that it’s nice to be able to have a different environment to slow down and relax in. The nail shops have gotten so out of control that there is one around every corner and that leads to competiting. Competitiveness leads to lack of quality care and it puts a damper on the industry. We need to get back to real customer service and get rid of it’s just a business mentality. Any place is a great place to start in but if you’re not going to offer the best service, you’re not going to last long in the industry.
