Hi Kaitlyn, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Me and my husband Lindsey come from California. We moved to Texas to grow a family and enjoy a less stressful life. Unfortunately, that did not happen! We found “Pickleball” We started driving 40 minutes a day to The Woodlands to play at Lonestar Pickleball Club, where we met Guillermo Ordorica and Gabby Angulo. After building a friendship, a vision, and dream was created in PALA Pickleball
Welcome to PALA Pickleball Club, the largest indoor Pickleball club in Texas! We have 11 state-of-the-art, fully climate-controlled indoor pickleball courts with permanent professional nets for year-round play.
This is Texas, so you don’t have to worry about playing in Freezing Temps, Wind, Rain, Sleet, Hail, on the rare occasion SNOW, or 100+ degree weather with our indoor facility. If you want outdoor Pickleball action, we also have you covered with 8 state-of-the-art outdoor courts as well.
The facility opens at 7 am and closes at 10 pm; this way, you can play as much pickleball as your heart desires. PALA also offers leagues, open play, clinics, drills, tournaments, and special events, so there’s always something great going on for everyone!
Pickleball isn’t just about the sport but the community we’re building. You’ll meet many great new people of all ages that you usually wouldn’t, which makes this sport incredible.
Providing a community and a place to build relationships and great friendships, you need food and drinks; our vision is to have a variety of good food and a great cocktail menu; nothing starts a good conversation better than great food, delicious drinks.
Gabi and myself as female owners, really take pride in bringing women together within the sport and the community, one of the great things about pickleball is that it brings people together from all different walks of life and to provide a space where everyone is welcomed that is our goal, and we will make sure everyone feels like they have a place here
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Obviously, purchasing Land or finding a perfect facility and location was hard. Each day we find some roadblocks that need to be overcome. That’s what makes this business adventure so much fun. Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport, and to be part of that journey is crazy but totally rewarding. The hardest part is trying to meet everyone’s needs. We want to cater for everyone, and doing so can be sometimes challenging at times.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We have 10 leagues currently, which are all sold out. We have the largest pickleball tournaments in Houston. We have the biggest indoor facility in Texas which sets us apart from all our competition.
We are looking to set up the first youth pickleball program in Houston; we have added to our 50+ and 65+ leagues
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
I think the biggest lesson we have learned is that we will get things wrong. This is always going to happen in new adventures and fast-growing sports. We continue to look at PALA and see where we can adapt and do things differently.
