Today we’d like to introduce you to Kanesha Jenkins
Hi Kanesha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey started when I was still living in my hometown doing a job I hated, after the birth of my first I went into postpartum depression and found a job in a warehouse working on the line stuffing jars. Most of my coworkers were unable to communicate due to language barriers so I worked harder than I think I would’ve with “friends” there to help pass the time. After about two months of hard work and weight loss, I got promoted to the order taker. I talked to many people but had a lot of downtime so I would help out in any way I could (filing, sorting, marketing, label design). My time in the office showed me a different side of the workplace. One that I dreamed of in college. I started spending more time with the owner learning and noting everything she did, how she handled challenging situations, managed her home and work life. My time at this company would change my life forever.
After the birth of my second child, I decided it was time for a change. I left my then-fiancee and moved to the city. It was a rough start experiencing homelessness, depression, and no clue as to what the next move would be. I went back to what I knew, customer service and sales. I found a nice apartment and began to get settled when I got the offer that would change my perspective on life and business. I started working as a tax agent in a local ace location asking everyone who would listen if “I could talk to them about taxes” It was a rocky start, but I made enough money to live comfortably for the year. During my off-season, I spent that time learning everything I could about taxes, credit, and business building. Making adjustments in my second year I realized there was a void in the people and their understanding of taxes (or any other financial literacy, products, and services) I spent more time reading and researching. Once I pitched my idea to my then employer and got shot down (multiple times) I decided it was time to go out on my own and Kreditable Konnections LLC was born.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to success is never smooth. My biggest challenge then and now is my perception of my abilities, life, and balancing it all. I think fear kept me in situations too long, afraid to fail on my own or the fear of going back to homelessness. even after securing the bag, I was still fearful. I had to go to therapy to understand the fear that had been instilled in me since my childhood, and handle it properly. I had to learn discernment. I had to learn to love myself unconditionally and not to feel guilty for changing my life and leaving others who don’t want to improve (just use) in the past.
