Today we’d like to introduce you to Karen Aldana.
Karen, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I love the beauty industry making other people feel beautiful about themselves is such a satisfying feeling. I feel like growing up I always struggled with feeling pretty at times and being able to give someone else that confidence of feeling beautiful and put together is why the beauty industry was for me. I fell in love with lashing when I started going to cosmetology school I took an outside course with iheartlashstudio after spending three days training with Sasha it made it more clear that lashing was exactly what I wanted to focus on. I’ve always loved fake lashes but lash extensions are just on another level.
I’ve always wanted to be my own boss but always felt like life got in the way but it was just me not believing in myself being a mother of two is what pushed me to making this work. Over the past two years I worked 8-5 and focused on my business part-time now I’m officially on my own being my own boss pushing and focusing more on my baby (lashedbykbeauty) I wouldn’t be where I am at today if it wasn’t for my loyal clientele and all of their referrals I’ll forever be grateful for them! I’ve met many inspiring women in this industry who have made me want to work 10x harder to get where I want to be.
Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road but what is when you’re starting from zero. A big challenge for me was balancing trying to run my own business and being a mother and full-time employee. There were times when I wanted to give up but the amazing feedback I get from my clients it’s what keeps me pushing for greatness. I decided to take a big leap and quit my full-time job it was so scary but so far I have the best support from my clients, friends and family can’t wait to keep growing because this is only the beginning!

Specialize in individual lash extensions. My clients do not have to worry about an additional 10 to 15 minutes to their morning or makeup routine when it comes to their lashes. They simply just get up brush their lashes and they are out the door.
The most rewarding part of what I do is seeing how much confidence it brings out in my clients after they see my work. I’ve built solid relationships with many of my clients that I’ve got to know many of them at a personal level most of my sessions with them are therapeutic. I’m glad I’m able to provide a place where they can come and relax and enjoy the time they get alone.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I love most about Houston is how diverse the city is. Traffic is what I least like about our city.
