Meet Karol Carballo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karol Carballo.

Hi Karol, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I love to talk about how my journey in real estate and advocacy for home buyers began when I was just a teenager. I have a clear image, in my head, of my single mom who had to review disclosures and contracts in English while buying our first house. This was while we rented and lived in a room at my aunt’s house. This was a language my mom did not familiarize with.

As her one and only child, I took over the role of attempting to interpret these documents and try my best to explain them to her. Through question and answer, it intrigued my interest in what “down payment”, “annual percentage rates”, “property taxes”, “homestead”, etc. was. Because of the 2008 recession, I witnessed my Mom struggling to make ends meet because of the high payments and interest rates. Many times, we were on the edge of losing our home and no one knew it. Fast forward to today, as I have embarked my journey as a Realtor in Houston, Texas, I want to make sure Houstonians are financially prepared and knowledgeable about the home buying process. I want to negotiate why is best for my buyers and represent them to my maximum potential. I am passionate to provide homes for every single family despite the obstacles we may face. These obstacles only motivate me even further. One thing about me is I am persistent and will go the extra mile for every family and individual I represent. I take it very personal when I am chosen to represent a client. I have clients who are now friends and even family. I have clients who invite me over for dinner and who teach me something along the way. Indeed- every person I encounter has a testimony to learn from.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Some of the struggles I have faced in this competitive market is my first time buyers getting beaten my cash offers, investors, or others offering over asking price. It is challenging to tell clients that their offer is not accepted on the home they fall in love with. I truly believe that what is meant to be for my clients will be. I am also confident that through negotiation and skills acquired while outbidding other offers will only make me more knowledgeable and proficient in real estate to better serve my clients.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a realtor who serves the Houston and the Greater Houston metropolitan area. A realtor who is passionate in educating each person I come in contact with. If I leave a place and know that I distributed and shared at least one helpful piece of information with an individual then my mission of the day has been accomplished. I like to say that my energy, drive and passion to teach community members is what sets me apart from others. I am not scared to get my hands dirty and learn from scratch.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the diversity and different cuisines that the City of Houston puts forward. I am proud to say that my city is the most diverse in the United States and that is truly embodied through our many and various delicious local restaurants.
