Today we’d like to introduce you to Katherine Price.
Katherine, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In January of 2016, I decided to pick up my paints as a secondary outlet from my full time teaching job. I sat outside on my patio one gorgeous day and just painted away. I painted without thinking or worrying about what anyone else thought of my work. Once I completed the painting, I decided I would test my painting out on a Facebook page called “Memorial Area Trading” to give it a shot and see if it would sell. That day, my work sold and I haven’t looked back since!
I currently have work in Canada, Utah, Dallas, Florida and Atlanta. My work has been featured in Papercity magazine, Luxe magazine and is on the floor of local Houston stores. Art is my true passion. I love how there are no rules or boundaries in art. Painting allows me to share a bit of my soul with others. Where words fail, colors and strokes convey. I love the freedom of creative exploration!
I am also a single Mom to an amazing 6 year old boy who is my true inspiration behind everything I do!! I want to be an amazing role-model for him and teach him that you can do anything in life if you put your mind to it! He is my main inspiration, my life, and my love!
Has it been a smooth road?
I would say my biggest challenge has been teaching myself how to run a business! I didn’t plan on creating a business until I noticed there was such a positive response to my work! What a blessing it has been!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Katherine Price Art story. Tell us more about the business.
Katherine Price Art specializes in gorgeous one of a kind original works of art. My signature is the gold leaf that you can find on most of my pieces. I use my palette knife and bare hands when I am really in to a painting! I am so thankful that I decided to pick up my paints on that January day in 2016. If you don’t try then you will never know what could become of something!
I am beyond proud that I have accomplished so many things all while raising my son as a single Mommy and continuing to work a full time job as a teacher for the past 16 years. I definitely know how to multi-task!
Katherine Price Art loves giving back to the community and is doing so through her various art donations to numerous charities across the city of Houston. Some of those charities include Leukemia Lymphoma Society, K-9’s for Cops, Cattle Barron’s Ball, Herman Park Conservancy, ADVA and numerous others! Katherine already has many on the list for 2018 to donate to as well! Katherine Price Art believes giving back is always in style!
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I would love to see my work featured in Southern Living, Traditional Home and Veranda magazine in the next 5 or so years!
