Meet Katie Burns, Professional Makeup Artist in Friendswood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Burns.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started my makeup career 12 years ago at MAC Cosmetics where I spent 8 years learning all that I have with them. I then took a new opportunity & job with Chanel Cosmetics at Neiman Marcus for a year and a half. I left the corporate field to start my dream of having my own business, providing makeup & hair devices for special events & all occasions. I contracted with other makeup artists and businesses for 2 years until I was ready to open my studio and be solely on my own. I’ve been doing this for nearly a year and now hire other talented makeup and hair artists to help my business. It’s an adventure and I look forward to accomplishing more goals.

Has it been a smooth road?
It’s been relatively smooth, just a learning process if anything. How to run things etc. It’s also a business that needs to be worked. If you don’t work it, it won’t continue to grow.

Katie Lynn Professional Makeup Artist provides makeup and hair services for special events & occasions. I also do makeup lessons for ladies who want to improve their skill or learn new techniques. I’m known for enhancing women’s natural beauty instead of completely altering their features. I’m most proud that I’ve had great feedback from my clients and continue to strive for the same.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I would like to dominate the wedding industry and open a salon that offers clients more beauty services. I would also like to create a line that my clients can have access to. With all the weddings, lessons & events I provide, my clients tell me they wish they had the makeup I used on them to buy.
