Meet Katina Collins of RCK Equipment Solutions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katina Collins.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up in a 2 parent home in South Park on the South Side of Houston. My first marriage I got married when I was 17 years old. I dropped out of high school with no plans to return. I stayed in that marriage for 4 years. One of my children born in this marriage had brain damage and cerebral palsy. The marriage was not a good one and I knew I had to get out of it for me and my children to be able to advance in life. We both were young and we didn’t really know what we were doing. It wasn’t getting any better. It was only getting worse. I made a decision to leave and get a divorce. In 1994 I found myself a single mother in welfare raising 3 kids and one severely disabled, I had no clue how to make it but by the grace of God, He kept me. During my time of not being in a relationship, I got pregnant and it’s my 4th child whose father was absent but my daughter or other kids never lacked or suffered. I know it was because of my Will power. In October of 1994, I met a very nice and determined young man, single, no kids and a dream. In 1999 we got married, 2003he accepted His calling to preach the Gospel, In 2009 life got so chaotic, we launched a church Kingdom Bound Community Church, my mother was diagnosed with cancer and our son who was 16 was put on hospice. All of this happened between May-September, 2009. September 29, 2009 our son passed away and depression and suicide became my battle. In April 2010 I beat depression and suicide. After our son died we became foster parents, even winning foster parents of the year one year. We have fostered over 15 kids, and adopted 2 of them and we are still connected to 4 of the boys that we fostered. In 2016 my husband lost his job, and that was a big struggle. Well, also in 2016, we started our business, RCK Equipment Solutions LLC. We overcame many obstacles and we e were determined that we would not raise our kids in poverty. My husband and I worked hard to raise our kids, give them morals and values, to teach them the word of God and teach them how to be self-sufficient. In 1999 we built our first home and purchased our 1st new car. During the pandemic, our life did not suffer financially but we did have some losses because my Father passed away from Dementia in October 2020. I have sacrificed a lot of my life being a caregiver to my in-laws, my son, and my father. However, the Lord never forgot me. As of today, I have been with my husband for 28 years, we have 6 amazing kids, 7 beautiful grandchildren, a very successful business and ministry and I am a college graduate. A college degree was something I always desired but I put me to the side to take care of everyone else and finally I knew it was my time to do some for me. I hold a Associate’s Degree in Kingdom Theology and I am currently in the Bachelor’s program. When my son died and my mother was diagnosed with cancer, my life shifted. I was determined to live my life with no regrets and help as many people as I can. I would never have imagined that I would be living this great life with such an amazing husband and children. My children are 31, 30, 28, 22, and 11. I’m very proud of my success and the success of my family. I am a strong woman for two reasons. One I have a strong mother and 2 my family motivates me. I have a blessed life, I rose above my situation and now I am loving the abundant life.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Death of a son, divorce, dropping out of high school, depression, mom with cancer, taking care of my in-laws, losing my dad during Covid.
