Today we’d like to introduce you to Katrina Ward.
Katrina, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today. I am Katrina Ward, I’m from a small city named Baytown located in the Eastside of Houston, TX. I am a model, entrepreneur, mother and business student. I began modeling back in November of 2019. After giving birth to my son Josiah back in 2016, my confidence was really low and I got discouraged to pursue modeling. I remember coming across an Instagram post around September of 2019 and it was a model casting call by Jmulan & the Jmulan agency. It was my very first model casting call and I didn’t know what to expect. Despite the nervousness and anxiety, I attended and left knowing much more about the industry, networking and meeting other amazing models. I also own a small business named theeonlyxkatrinabeauty which consists of beauty products like luxury mink eyelashes, lip glosses and much more to come. I started this business in May of 2020 because I love being glammed up and who doesn’t love lashes and gloss? It all started with the late night thoughts. I would spend my nights after my “9-5” job researching business ideas, finding the perfect vendors, planning, and just focusing on how I can do it the best. I saved up money and invested into what I have now. I am still learning by trial and error because I literally did this on my own without any guidance. I can say that you can do anything you put your mind to, you just have to believe in yourself.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The modeling Industry has been smooth because I have been doing quite well with networking. I took some wise advice from the jmulan bootcamp and that was to network & put myself out there. I have been open to different opportunities like being a Makeup model, hair model and fashion model. Some struggles would probably be not knowing exactly what to do but still trying and learning from mistakes, if any. As far as theeonlyxkatrinabeauty, it’s been quite smooth as well. I’m still building my brand up.

Theeonlyxkatrinabeauty is a small business, I offer luxury mink eyelashes and lip glosses. I plan to expand my business with more beauty products, soon. I’m proud to be able to make ladies feel beautiful once they see the look that my lashes & gloss give them. What sets me apart from others is the customer service that I give, my packaging and my price. My main goal is for my customers to be satisfied with their purchase.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was an introvert; I was very observant and reserved. I didn’t speak unless I was spoken to. I enjoyed fashion shows, dancing, adventures, outdoors and shopping. When high school came around, I considered myself both introverted and extroverted. My interest pretty much stayed the same though.
