Meet Katy Cox of Katy Cox Photography in The Woodlands

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katy Cox.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Katy . So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
As I entered my college years (unwillingly), I knew that going full time into wedding photography was where my heart truly was. The thought of someone else telling me when to work, when to eat lunch and when I could go on vacation for rest of my life was daunting to me. This is where a big portion of my drive to become an entrepreneur stemmed from. When my high school sweetheart, Wesley and I, got married in February of 2016, I quit my full time job and also faded out of my college semester to pursue my dreams as a wedding photographer the same week we got back from our honeymoon. As newlyweds, this was already such a new season of life for us and for one of us to already be “semi unemployed” the first week of our marriage was scary. Being the best new husband he could have been, Wesley trusted me and wanted me to succeed in following my dreams. This was not only so encouraging but gave me the drive to make my dreams a reality. I will always love him for that!

Has it been a smooth road?
As an entrepreneur, I have learned that you have to work hard for the success and easy times that comes your way. If I could give a new entrepreneur advice to implement in their business early on, it would be:
1. To get organized early. Things like numbers, emails and taxes can quickly spiral out of control if you are not on top of the business side of things.
2. You don’t always have to say “yes” to every lead that comes your way!
3. Be focused and have work-life balance.
4. Be nice to everyone and always willing to help.
5. Make sure you truly love what you do or it will be hard to thrive doing it.
6. Success is not defined by the number of social media followers you have.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Katy Cox Photography – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.

All of Katy’s wedding collections are “build your own” and come with a complimentary glass heirloom box with fine art prints as well as her team of three on your wedding day as a special touch. She has been fortunate enough to photograph ceremonies from the mountains of Colorado to the shores of Cancun. Thankful is an understatement!

Most recently, Katy has started offering 1:1 mentoring sessions for photographers looking to enhance their businesses and skills. She offers three mentoring options depending on each photographer’s individual needs. In the last month, she has already had the opportunity to mentor 4 fellow photographers in the areas of business, technical skill and client experience. What a joy it has been to pour into others!
