Meet KayLynn Gibson of Blue Jug Alkaline Water Store in The Woodlands

Today we’d like to introduce you to KayLynn Gibson.

Thanks for sharing your story with us KayLynn. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My health journey started after my second son Jonas was born with a congenital heart defect. I knew that the most effective way to keep him out of the hospital was to keep him well. So I began to read and research about various different natural and alternative therapies. In 2014, We lost Jonas to the flu that turned into a antibiotic-resistant bacterial pneumonia. From that experience, I went on another journey to see if I could be successful in keeping my children from getting sick for one full year. That experiment has now extended into six years of having all four children healthy and well all of the time. One of the things that accompanied that journey was drinking alkaline water. For us, it had provided many health benefits, and we can taste the difference. As a result of our loss of Jonas, we also started a nonprofit in his name called Jonas his Heartstrings. The purpose of this nonprofit is to be able to give financially back to families who are dealing with a child who has a congenital heart defect as well as gives to families who have experienced the loss of a child. In 2017 we had the opportunity to combine our passion for great health along with our desire to be able to fund Jonas Heartstrings by investing in the business we now run called Blue Jug. Ultimately our goal is to be able to use the profits from Blue Jug to fund Jonas Heartstrings and help families with children of congenital heart disease as families who have lost a child.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Some of our struggles along the way have been anywhere from not knowing what you don’t know, to financial, to having to commute 4 hours round trip to open the store, to lack of help.

Tell us more about the business.
Blue Jug filters the water through a four step filtration process that cleans the water to .0002 microns. Our process gets rid of virtually all TDS (pollution, sewage, industrial run off, chemicals, and minerals) and then takes the water back through a remineralization process that puts back 21 trace minerals into the water. We specialize in providing premium antioxidant alkaline water at a non-premium price. We are known for great tasting water, and we have quite a large return customer base. As a company, we are most proud of the fact that we offer the best of both worlds. Clean, great-tasting water that has not been stripped of its mineral content like reverse osmosis and not given an artificial pH through electricity. We provide water the way it’s intended to be!

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Growing up, I was very driven and very much a rule follower. I thought my parents were the coolest people to hang with, and my mom was my best friend. I had a passion for music and started teaching at a very early age. I also had a passion for sharing Jesus with everyone I met. I went on to get a degree in music education and have taught for over 30 years. I continue to share my love for Jesus as I am given the opportunity and hope that his light and love will shine through to all I meet.
