Meet Kdot of RDMPLive in Greater Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kdot.

Kdot, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
When I was little, I noticed art was in my blood and ran with music. If I wasn’t beatboxing, I’m beating on the lunch table. As a musician (brass – trumpet) of 18yrs., the fundamentals of reading/writing sheet music made production easy. I eventually started composing instrumentals (Live Instruments & Digital Recording) in 2007. Photographer (2012) turned Cinematographer, 12 years later, 4 DAW’s and Audio Engineering training I’m dropping my first Instrumental Project in 2019! “Midtown Main”, an instrumental project covering tracks from 2016 – 2018. Hoping to bridge a gap between mediocre visual media and mundane music, I work late nights perfecting my craft. “Your hobby is your best asset! “, my dad always said! Peaceably make a living, loving what I do while everything else falls in place after.

Has it been a smooth road?
Struggle comes before Success! Try balancing work, school, freelance work (camera, music producing) & school studio lab hours! People try to steal your style, collaborators stealing music, but everything has its time! Cameras are like the first thing someone might steal if they could… something had to give, regrets were bred but the craft was birthed with some healed ego. I was known for making beats that always sound weird but dope. I learned my sound but spent more time working, instead of networking… and I paid for that! I have a strong circle and marketable presence but my resume/portfolio will speak for itself!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with RDMPLive – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I felt led to launch RDMPLive, a full scale Media/Audio & Visual Recording Company. 4 DAW’s I mentioned… FL Studio, Maschine, Pro Tools & Presonus. Spent plenty of hours learning recording softwares( over 10,000 hrs) and can say I’m known for the music (audio recording and mixing) but photos/videos are up to compete. I praise remaining versatile and adapting to any need! As important as school is, footwork has to be put in and learning your tool of service/commerce is key! Working in multiple studios, constant bookings while still building a social media presence is a job, but rewarding itself. You are what you go after, I’m into maximizing facets of passive/aggressive income from the media/audio services offered. Continue to cover residential as well as commercial/corporal imaging needed. Inner city placements first, then the radio play. Film/Score plays and Sync music on rotation. Backend money please!

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Houston, the racial melting pot! Houston is so diverse, it’s many ways I think helps inspire art in many forms. Endless food options is a plus, lol. The music nightlife, especially Downtown/Montrose is like the glue to the city! Can’t stand Houston traffic and being the 3rd largest city means an overly-saturated market for work! A lot of people own cameras/do music, but they’re here just to take your monies! Quality over Quantity!
