Today we’d like to introduce you to Keandra and Jessie Upson Jr.
Keandra and Jessie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Initially, my husband was working for an oil and gas company, which eventually was forced to close down. Upon his departure he had received a severance package for the years he had worked with the company. We both agreed that we should invest the entire check into what we believed God had already been putting on our hearts.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, not at all. Some of the struggles we faced were not having enough money to promote the business the way that we wanted to. With only one income due to me being a full-time college student with eight children to financially supply wasn’t an easy task to balance in the beginning. I remember we would literally spend our last to make sure that we produced great quality products.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Ignited Swag Clothing Line story. Tell us more about the business.
Ignited Swag Clothing Line specializes in designing inspirational apparel with an urban twist. The thing we are most proud of as a company is the fact that all ages love wearing our apparel all around the world. What set us apart from others is that every design we make is a God-given design as well as we pray over every product sold to our customers. We believe that whatever challenges an individual may be facing our prayers can definitely intervene.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I really wouldn’t use the word luck. But I can say that we’ve been very blessed and fortunate to connect with an amazing group of individuals who help catapult Ignited Swag Clothing Line to where we need to be personally and professionally.
