Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly James.
Kelly, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am currently the founder of Introvert Influencer LLC. With 20+ years of experience as a sales expert, trainer, and practitioner.
In 2010 after a failed business venture, I found myself in a situation with no income and no job prospects. Exploring my options, I learned that a sales job was available, and I could make a ton of money in a short period of time.
The only problem was that I was a shy introvert who hated selling. I have always been reasonably good at selling, but the reason I started my own business was to get away from these soul-crushing sales jobs.
With two small children and a wife, I was the sole provider for my household. With my back against the wall, I decided to take the sales job, but this time had to be different.
I read every book and took every course I could find on how to sell ethically without being pushy or aggressive. You see, to this day, most books are written for extraverts and teach hard closing and manipulation to close sales.
These strategies were the exact reason I HATED selling. It was bad enough I had to talk to people every day, but to be inauthentic and unethical was this introvert’s worst nightmare.
I executed my new skills and sales strategy. Within months, I was one of the top sales performers in the company. Shortly after starting with the company I was promoted to Director of Skill Development and asked to work with employees who were struggling with selling as I did.
Within months of using my system, the struggling employees doubled or even tripled their conversion. I left the company in 2015 and decided to serve introverted coaches to sell with the same selling strategies.
To date, my system, Closing the Sale (For Introverts) system, has helped hundreds of coaches and entrepreneurs explode their sales and increase profits!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Learning to be an entrepreneur vs. an employee is a tough transition. It really took a mindset shift to understand that you don’t have tech support and if you don’t motivate yourself to get up and work no one else will.
My target market is extremely niche, so I had times where I tried to be everything to everyone, which did more harm than good.
Working with introverts has a sense of purpose and has been consistently rewarding and profitable, so it is crucial to stay in my lane.

I coach introverted coaches on how to sell and build a profitable business their way! I specialize in sales strategy and coaching methodology.
Most proud of: I have had the pleasure of helping people who didn’t think they could build profitable businesses build six and seven-figure businesses.,

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Resourcefulness.
In business, nothing is done for you. You have to figure things out and make the tough decisions. People who ultimately fail in business aren’t able to adapt due to the lack of resourcefulness.
