Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Stewart.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Kelly. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have either coached gymnastics, directed gymnastics programs, or managed a gymnastics facility for more than two decades. I think I had that “what’s next?” spirit come over me. I love the idea of DIY projects, and I love teaching gymnastics to little ones. This was an opportunity to fulfill both of these passions while embarking on the adventure of owning my own business.
So I bought a bus, and with the help of my family (my brother took this bull by the horns), gutted it and transformed it into a gymnastics classroom fully equipped with all the gymnastics equipment needed to teach fun and high-quality gymnastics.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was terrifying! Not only have I learned (and am still learning) how to run my own business, but I also learned how to drive a bus. Each day is a new adventure, but I am truly blessed with an abundance of support from family and friends. And I have learned that it’s never too late to learn new things or to set out on new adventures.
The thing that keeps me motivated was the vision of little ones with the biggest eyes staring up at Tuck the Gym Bus waiting to jump on and learn gymnastics.
Please tell us about Destination Gymnastics.
Destination Gymnastics is Mobile Preschool Gymnastics where children can jump on board for a journey to gymnastics and physical fitness! Our gymnastics bus comes to your child’s preschool and is full of fun activities that will help your child gain the knowledge and physical abilities to become a little gymnast. Safe equipment and trained, certified staff makes the bus the perfect environment for fun and learning.
As a mom, I know how hard it is to work full time and still make it to your children’s activities. With Destination Gymnastics, we come to your child’s school leaving you more time in the evenings to spend with your family.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I was a gymnast through and through, and I’m reminded every day of the positive impact gymnastics has had on my life. It’s taught me persistence, perseverance, and passion. All things that are guiding me through this leg of my journey today. Spending time at my Grandpa’s lake house. I loved all the outside adventures the lake would bring… fishing, boating, skiing!
