Today we’d like to introduce you to Kellyssa Abrams.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Kellyssa. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m the owner and operator of Braided By Kellyssa. I have been braiding hair for 14 years now. I actually started out playing in my mother’s hair and she took an interest in my interest and started teaching me how to braid. I had no clue what I was doing but as time progressed so did my skills. I practiced on all my little cousin’s hair until I was able to attempt my craft on clients that weren’t related. Once I got over the fear of my braiding not being up to par I took off and never looked back. I’ve been braiding hair ever since and it’s wonderful.
Has it been a smooth road?
I definitely can’t say that it’s been a smooth road because I’ve surely hit a few bumps. In the beginning, I constantly struggled with consistency. Building a brand takes hard work and lots of effort, and being disciplined enough to be your own boss is definitely a challenge within itself. Proud to say those are no longer struggles but attributes to my brand.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Braided By Kellyssa – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Braided by Kellyssa is the name I decided on as a representation for my brand on all social media platforms. It’s self-explanatory to describe myself and my talents. I specialize in all braiding styles from natural hair to weave extensions, and all hair types (ethnicity wise). I am well known for my professionalism, braiding skills, the ability to provide a great braiding experience and basic/advanced hair knowledge that I possess and provide to my clientele. I’m most proud as a company for the motivation to continue striving despite the struggles along the way to success. I feel what sets my company apart is the passion behind the brand. Passion to continue to grow, passion to continue to provide, passion to love what I do!
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I’m from Pensacola, FL. which is a small city. So once I relocated to Houston, I fell in love. I like having so much room to play around in. More areas to promote and get to know a variety of people and potential clients. Houston is a place of growth. There’s only one thing I’ve yet to like in Houston and that’s traffic lol. Overall I made a great decision to move to Houston.
