Meet Kendra Epperson of Brave Boutique in Seabrook/League City

Today we’d like to introduce you to KendraEpperson.

Kendra, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was a Dental Hygienist, married with 4 grown children. I have always had an interest in fashion. I decided to look into the business. After much research and prayer, I decided to try something different on the weekends. I began doing Trunk shows (home shows) in friends homes. I would bring tons of clothing and accessory items and we would have shopping parties! After doing this and having Facebook sales, we decided to start a website. Everything was going so well! I believe that if you don’t keep stepping out you won’t know what all God has for you. So, continuing to pray, my husband and I decided to look into opening a shop. Fast forward 2 years and continuing to step out in faith we opened a second location. Today, we have 2 locations and 10 employees. We have a website that ships anywhere within the United States. We have Facebook and Instagram pages for both! Our primary goal is to love on people! We want you to leave happier than you came in! Customer service is the utmost importance for us.

Has it been a smooth road?
Retail is never a smooth road! There are definitely bumps along the road. Finding the right employees that see your vision is always a struggle although I feel like we have been blessed there. We are constantly trying to stay fresh and current which is always a job. Growth is a great blessing but also is a struggle. Managing and adapting is a constant job.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Brave Boutique story. Tell us more about the business.
Our shops sell beautiful women’s clothing, accessories, and gifts. One thing that makes us different is we carry sizes XS-3X. We take pride in the fact that any size any age can and usually will find something they love. We carry many different styles for many different tastes. Another thing that sets us apart is our customer service. The customer is the most important person! We want you to leave feeling better than you were when you came in. Something we do that is VERY important to us as we donate 10% of every purchase to a non-profit organization and the customer gets to chose who we donate to.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I believe people are tired of the malls and big box stores. We are learning that the small businesses are what’s important for our communities and economy. Boutiques are popular in other areas and it’s only going to get better here. It’s an experience totally different than the mall and those stores. Plus, everyone likes the convenience of shopping local.
