

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenneth Shittu.
Kenneth, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Growing up the idea of fashion or clothing was not a thing, it never really crossed my mind from being born in England then to living in Lagos Nigeria for about ten years, when we moved over here it was moreover survival and a culture shock at most. Then at that time and honestly all of my High school time was spent on the soccer field. I’d call out my first love. As petty as it sounds it was, and really still is it gives me some of the inspiration and work thing we hold for employees at SHISTY. The diversity held in the sport really can be seen translate into colors because personalities transcribe into colors when understanding what triggers happens in a person.
So we fast forward to college and in playing Division 1 soccer and a small school in San Antonio TX, let’s just say a really transforming experience. Didn’t play a whole lot my first year so at this time I was fed up with the position I was in, so now this is where it gets kinda funny because the creation of the brand was purely on accident. So it was Thanksgiving break and at the time I think a Gucci man song had come out and the word had the correct spelling of the word “shiesty”. and it just stuck I my head. So I went to dinner that night with my mum and started telling here I wanted to make a business that I could make a little bit of change from and I was obviously always into clothes and shoes the whole 9 and really that’s how the brand came about soon after that I sourced my first hats from China and started selling them around my college dorm and honestly its just God because none of this was planned and is ever planned.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Obviously, it has not been smooth I am currently a biology and business major in college so imagine having such a blessing such as the Brand and it growing with me as I develop my education, but when looking at it, I would not be happy if everything went our way. It’s definitely been a work in progress in just understanding how to run the business sufficiently and sustainably, especially when I am the sole owner curator and creative director of everything that goes on with the brand. the struggles one encounters are to always be looked at as a learning’s experience especially when a lot of your peers around you are not able to relate to your situation or problems faces when trying to build a multinational cooperation as a clothing brand
Please tell us about SHISTY CLOTHING.
Shisty is defined by the color transcribed through the experiences of our youthful nature. We curate clothing that is defined by color, seen by color and is color. Honestly, I am most happy that God has blessed me with the power to have a platform as influential as we do. the power in having such a platform comes with the chance to change how people experience clothing and at an inexpensive price, not only beating our competitor but leaving people wanting to work hard in whatever they do to create an entity as such
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Never. The experiences and trials and lows I have gone through in trying to develop this child “Shisty” is definitely what makes me who I am today a lot of late nights early mornings, no food and spending my last dollar to my name just to make better days ahead I would never change it for the world.
