Today we’d like to introduce you to Kindell Texada.
Kindell, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My journey began after deciding to stop playing basketball in college and focus on what I wanted to do in my professional career. It was then that I became an Executive Assistant to Daisee Benavidez, Owner and CEO of Events by Dai. It was there that I found my love for event coordinating. Working for Daisee, I was able to learn the ins and outs of the entire business, and during my time with her I was able to gain skills that would allow me to elevate later in life. After graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Communications, I decided to take a leap of faith and move to Houston. Why Houston? Well, a couple of months before graduation I got a chance to meet two amazing men by the name of Tay Mitch & Mikos. They made me aware of a club they were starting soon, now known as “Dior Saturday’s”. They presented me with an opportunity to help with promoting and social media. I jumped on the opportunity because I wanted to start getting into event planning on the club level, and I felt like what better way to get your foot in the door.
During my time with Dior, I began building relationships with a lot of the bottle girls. Getting to know them and their reasons for being a bottle girl. Each woman had an end goal they were striving for but one reoccurring statement I kept hearing was, “but I don’t know how to get started to build my business”. That’s when it hit me, I wanna help build these woman’s brands, to the point where they are so satisfied with the compensation that they’ll never want to serve a bottle again. Therefore one day, I sat in one spot for 3 1/2 hours and wrote out my entire business from top to bottom. That’s how Kindell T Public Relations Agency came to fruition.
Although I don’t plan on launching my company until 2020, the amount of support and love I’ve received from the people in the city has truly been my motivation and drive. I’m beyond appreciative of Tay, Mikos, Will (owner of the Incrowd), and everyone that has helped me to find my way out here. This is only the beginning, the top is our destination!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
One of my biggest struggles I had to learn to overcome was being confident and strong within myself. Moving to a city like Houston can be very intimidating. All the men flashing money and popping bottles, all the women have on designer. To someone from the outside looking in, it seems like everyone in the city got it and here I am trying to figure it out.
I thought having my degree would allow my transition to be easier as far as finding a job, but I went four months without being employed. Everyday waking up trying to figure how to get myself in the position, I keep seeing all these people post about. It was then that God stripped me of the things I thought I “needed” to show me just how strong and powerful I am without them. That’s when I stopped comparing my life to the lives I see on Instagram and began training my mind. Training it to focus on how to outdo my past self, and manifesting only positive goals/dreams. This wasn’t easy but today I’m able to stand on the fact that I’m secure in myself and secure in where I’m going, and no person can ever change that.
Please tell us about Kindell T Public Relations Agency.
We are a Public Relations Agency dedicated to building the brands of any person, place or product. We do this through our strong knowledge of Brand Management, Social Media and Media Relations. We thrive on being hands on with each and every one of our clients.
What I’m most proud of about this company, is that we not only enjoy building brands but also building up our surrounding community through different philanthropy events. We are looking to partner with Geenius Center, a non-profit organization here in Houston in the upcoming year.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Not to sound cliche, but I wouldn’t do anything over. I’ve been through things in my life people wouldn’t even think, and one day I’ll share my testimony. Though it was extremely challenging to get to where I am today, I’m here and I’m blessed. Looking back, I see why God put me through some of the obstacles he put me through because without them, I would still be ignorant to many things. When you really begin finding your way and knowing your purpose, you will then see the beauty in the struggle and won’t want to trade it for the world.
