Today we’d like to introduce you to King Justo Music.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story as a creative dates all the way back to my early childhood. I often would write stories and play various instruments growing up. I began songwriting around the age of 18 and have ventured into various avenues of entertainment over the years. My discography includes multiple singles and Scars: The EP and Scars II: The EP, that is available on streaming platforms.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road at all. Like everything, there will always be challenges to overcome and politics that come with it as well. A few struggles I used to have was finding my niche music-wise but over the years I have found my niche and specific sound I showcase.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Hello, I go by the stage name of King Justo, I am a songwriter from the Chicagoland area but now reside in Houston, TX. My music is often compared to the likes of J. Cole and other storytelling type artists. I recently released a song that is available on all streaming platforms called, “Plant Gardens”. It is based upon “personal growth/finding your truest self/new beginnings”.
My proudest moment so far was performing at the University of Chicago for a citywide cypher years back. I gained a lot of exposure and connected with some great people along the way.
What sets me apart is the content and style of my songs. When I write songs, I want the listener to feel as if they are walking through a garden or a new phase of their life. In a couple songs, I include voicemails to create a nostalgic type feeling to my tracks. The end goal for my music is always to inspire the listener and to touch the heart with words/instrumentals.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I like the culture of Houston and definitely the weather. It is a vast difference from back home. Additionally, it is always something to do no matter what you are interested in.
I don’t have anything in particular I do not like or like the least about the city. It definitely gets very hot, that was the biggest adjustment for me.
