Today we’d like to introduce you to King Savage.
King, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Hello, I was born in Jefferson, Texas where I was taken from my real parents, due to drug abuse & other complex reasons, and placed inside a foster home. I was adopted once, until they brought me back to the foster home for “crying too much,” lol. Until some years later, I was adopted again into this family out of Nacogdoches, TX. Won’t go into detail but in this home, I went through every toxic situation you can think of. And I wouldn’t wish it upon my worse enemy. From mental, physical, sexual, and psychological. I was abused from when I was 3 until I was 14. Up until a “family incident” that occurred when I was 14 that left me in Longview Juvenile Detention Center until I went to court with my CPS Caseworkers (who have I been telling everything too for two years now leading up until this point), where the judge believed my story and made me a ward of the state, me being my own guardian.
After that, I left my sister & foster family and moved to Lampasas, TX with my cousin and her husband. Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Unfortunately, after some turn of events in their household. They decided that they weren’t ready for another teenager. For they had two kids of their own, and that they were sending me back to Nacogdoches.
I understood. but there was NO WAY I was going back. So, I ended up buying a car for $200 off of craigslist & living in it along with staying with friends I met during the school year. Up until my senior year of high school.
Now, I didn’t mention but when I left Nacogdoches, my whole foster family, pretty much cursed my name. They told me by the time I turn 17, I would be either dead or in jail… super judgemental. I had to prove them wrong. Even on my own. I went to school every day, got all as played every sport, got full scholarships to colleges while working three jobs in high school.
I would work McDonald’s overnight, go to early morning practice, shower after, go to school. From there, during my off periods, I would work at Paceline collision center in Lampasas, when I clocked out, I would go back to school for practice. & after practice, I would go to the county seat and wait tables until closing. Then, head back to McDonald’s for an overnight shift.
Some may ask how?? Well, when you’re the top athlete in every sport in a little hick not so hick town. It comes with its perks. I loved every second of it.
After high school, I got a full football scholarship to TAMUC (Texas a&m university commerce). From there, I was recruited by UTPB in Odessa (prayers for the families up there) from there to college station. From college station to TXST texas state. Where the night life & my life changes forever.
When I first started in San Marcos, I started off by throwing parties. Huge project x type parties for the whole college. “Clout” just started to become a thing more needed to be someone in the world around then. And down here. I was building the clout. I hire the worst females to promote my parties and be a part of my promotion team. The hardest hitters around Austin and Central Texas to where I built the best promotion team in central Texas. #CTEPromotions with the CTE Angels.
Our parties started getting out of hand and I kept getting tickets and cases to where we had to adjust and move to clubs. That’s where the industry popped up into my life. Once I started hosting clubs, I was getting “booked” to host Concerts. & it felt good. Like I was the actual headliner. I was hosting shows to the point where I had the crowds rocking so hard the headliners didn’t know what the hell was going on when I was out there. And I loved it. So, I was hosting & doing clubs, a little bit of the parties, and one day one of my artist. “Bad Grandson,” tells me “You should do music, you should make a song” immediately, I brush it off. But he tells me “Think about it, you have the people booking you, you have the clubs, the look, why not?”
After thinking about it, we went to his studio (Tr36ix studios) which was in an attic at the time where I met my engineer Rich Muny. We went in there and recorded my first song with him. “Blast Off REMIX” Sauce Almxghty ft. King Savage.
Later, the bookings came, the interviews, the shows, dancers from all over dancing to my music. it was crazy. But I haven’t really committed yet.
YET, I was still promoting. still hosting, still doing party busses. All of that. Until my CFO Edonis and I, along with my president Cheese, was sitting on the balcony one day talking about everything. And we decided that if I’m going to do music, then, I’m going to do it full time. 100%.
We had to understand that we were a team and everything we do. We do together and we stay straight up with each other. After we shook hands, the next day, Edonis rented out an empty room at the music lab. Where we created and built from the ground up DreamScape Studios. Where we based and launched our record label GMSE RECORDS LLC (Get Motivated Savage Edonis). We have more studios in the works right now. About 11 artists. And tons of bookings are way! As of now, I am currently in the process of moving to LA & opening more studios there, expanding our label to coast for better and more promising opportunities! I appreciate the love and support from anyone, anywhere, and I say that with all of my heart. And you can see why it feels so good to have supporters who support me for me. And I will never stop loving and being the best person I can be because of my supporters 💜. I’m king savage & that was pretty much my story!
Has it been a smooth road?
Not at all.
But we’ve been through stuff like my label got booked for a show. We opened for trippie red. And we sold 600+ tickets. And we only got two persons for 2 minutes. That was crazy.
I’ve been scammed countless amount of times.
The industry isn’t for everyone. There’s going to be struggling. Snakes, liars, manipulators, and you gotta be able to detect those type of people & STILL KEEP THEM AROUND and do business with you. Without letting them get whatever outta you for their own benefit.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the GMSE RECORDS, Savage Promo, DreamScape Studios story. Tell us more about it.
Well, I am the CEO of Savage Promo & Co Ceo of GMSE RECORDS & DreamScape Studios.
Savage promo is a promotion team filled with promoters around central texas & other states. Mainly TXST students (for that’s where I went to school). We do all types of promos. From Clubs, private events/parties, concerts, festivals, birthdays, etc., etc. We specialize in clubs, party busses, & ticket sales. If you ever need extra promo on an event, #SAVAGEPROMO is the team for you!
GMSE Records is a record label started by Edonis (my cfo) and myself. We reside in Austin, TX and record AT DreamScape Studios.
My other business that we run daily. Booking studio time, music video location, mixing, mastering, engineering, producing, etc., etc., you can do it all at Dreamscape studios.
What I think I’m proud of is being able to utilize my entrepreneurship skills to give everyone around me a job. Or extra incomes. Or if I’m simply giving them something to do to stay out of trouble. I don’t have a family. & I think I’m proud of the most is that I have built my own family around me through my business. & it works for me.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I am going to be bigger than Jay Z (no disrespect to the king).
