Meet Korn Lai of Upper Kirby Car Wash

Today we’d like to introduce you to Korn Lai.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Upper Kirby Car Wash started out as South Beach Auto Spa in 2005 by my business partner, Mike Norng, who has been in the automotive industry since 1997. In 2008 we were interviewed and featured on ABC13’s news (http://abc13.com/archive/6903062/). In 2009 South Beach Auto Spa #2 was built from the ground up on W Gray in Midtown where I joined him. In 2010 we won 2nd place in Channel 2’s Houston’s Best Car Washes (http://houston.cityvoter.com/best/car-wash/auto/houston/slideshow/2010?utm_source=bizprof&utm_medium=site&utm_campaign=bp-awardlist).

Due to growing trends and services we are able to provide, we decided to change our names from South Beach Auto Spa to Upper Kirby Car Wash in 2014 and Midtown Motor Trends 2015. In 2016 we were sponsored by 3M ad competed in the World Tint off Competition. Though out the years we’ve added more protection services such as paint protection film, 3M automotive window film, vehicle wraps, and ceramic coating. We are the largest 3M automotive window film and paint protection film installer and the only certified 3M Crystalline and 3M Scotchguard ppf installer in Houston. We are always looking for new technology and products to bring to Houston.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
New trends, technologies, products and features are always coming out. We are always training and learning to stay up to date keeping our clientele’s highest standards in mind.
