Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Walker.
Kristen, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Initially, I began prepping for myself back in 2013. I’d bring my own meals to work and would always have at least two coworkers hovering over me during lunch to see what I had to eat for the day. One day, one of them gave me the idea to start prepping for people. I took the idea and ran with it. I started prepping in 2014 for my closest friends and began to create a following through word of mouth. Eventually, I left my job and took on my meal prepping business full time. In 2019, I got the opportunity to have my first store front in Mo City Fitness Gym, located in Stafford. This was one of my biggest dreams come true and something I had prayed for about years. That opportunity really helped me reach more people and get my name out there. I am a one woman show so it does get overwhelming at times but my passion and love for cooking and helping people outweighs the challenges.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I don’t think the road of entrepreneurship is ever a smooth road. It’s tough. Especially when your feet are just getting wet. I’ve struggled with doing things on my own such as, prepping, delivering, marketing, keeping up with finances, you name it. Everything falls on me so if I don’t do it, it doesn’t get done.
We’d love to hear more about the business.
My business is geared toward healthy living. My meals are portioned out so that you have the proper intake of nutrition, which consist of carbs, protein and vegetables. I also cater to those who are trying to gain weight and those who compete. I am proud of what my company stands for and the many lives that have been impacted by my services. The growth has been amazing and I’m looking forward to creating a team so I am able to impact many more lives. I feel like my company stands out from the rest because I am big on customer service, quality, presentation and taste. I love building relationships with my clients because I believe it builds loyalty and trust.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I probably would have done a business plan. I jumped in with no plan or knowledge about having your own business. But I also believe things happen the way they should so I accept it for what it is. I’ve grown so much in this process. When I do start another business, I’ll know what route to take.
