Meet Kristina Kenner of Rockin Llama Company in The Woodlands

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristina Kenner.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always enjoyed fashion since I was little. In 2013 when I had my son, Kylan, I was very frustrated with the availability of cool, modern and edgy looks for babies. After all, He is my little rockstar! I was not impressed with baby blue, puppies and footballs on everything made for boys. I decided to make his nursery bedding myself. Soon I started to venture into making clothes for him. It was a scary thought…me making clothes…but after alot of trial and error….and broken needles, I was so excited to show the world that even precious babies can look cool in black!

I’ve also gotten alot better with a sewing machine. Hahaha

Has it been a smooth road?
I do everything from design, cut, sew, package, label and ship everything, as well as manage my Rockin Llama Co.’s social media platforms and website. It is alot to handle on my own while also trying to manage my time. I am a wife and a mother, too and I work out of my home office. But being able to be at home with my son when he is home from school is worth it!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Rockin Llama Company story. Tell us more about the business.
Rockin Llama Co. Is a fashion line for mostly babies and toddlers. I am working on adding bigger kid handmade sizes and offer adult and older kids t-shirts. Everything is heavily influenced by 90s rock and roll, punk and even a little touch of goth with a whimsical touch! I have basically poured my personality into the items I offer.

I love creating items that make a mama say, “Shoot! I would wear that!” Haha.

I want my customers to feel the sting of nostalgia as they are reminded of what there favorite musicians and celebrities wore in 1994 and being able to choose and customize a t-shirt with acid wash or distress. Putting studded suspenders or adding a black ruffle to a pair of bloomers.

It’s fun and edgy and it adds something extra to your kid’s wardrobe. When. Your kid is wearing something I’ve created, I hope that the parent put it on them and thinks to themselves “I wish you could wear this forever”.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I hope to be able to find someone help me create my items, the more I grow, the harder it is becoming to keep up! I would love to get RLC into a few cool baby shops with like-minded customers across the country. Maybe even a line of items in Nordstrom!
