Meet Kristine Alicia Caldwell of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristine Alicia Caldwell.

Hi Kristine Alicia , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started off doing background singing for some reggae acts while living in South Florida and doing my Masters in Music. An opportunity came to me to record an album with Nigel Lewis and I recorded my first album which was a gospel reggae album. A few years later I recorded a roots inspirational reggae album with Rory Stone Love. I moved to Houston shortly after with my husband at the time to Houston to be with his family. Unfortunately my husband passed of cancer a year later and the next few years taught me a lot about life, my beliefs and love. I’d call it a rediscovery of self. I continued to teach music and build my music studio. Last year I recorded a live album to reflect my emotions on my new dating journey. I now have a residency at House of Blues Foundation Room where I am blessed to sing all my songs from my catalog and some reggae favorites of other artists!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Obstacles have come in different forms. My own limited belief system. Being my own manager as a female in the music industry is not so easy to navigate. Staying creative while navigating grief and new experiences.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a reggae singer with a catalog of three albums, gospel, roots reggae and a love reggae album. I am blessed to have a band where I can perform live at various venues. I am most proud of how I connect to the audience I’m singing in front of and my message of resilience and love.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My mother has been a huge support over my entire career. My late husband as well. Currently the band that plays for me at Hosue of Bkues have been very reliable as well – Galaxy Band. My team that helps me organize and plan my shows – Raignor Rollucks and Kristopher Burton.
