I started this company with a hope and a dream of one day becoming a real trucking company and finally happened for us in 2014. It has not been easy being a woman in a man driven industry, however, we have been able to grow each year of operation. I started my company off as a brokage for the first 4 years adding dispatching and trucks following that.
Has it been a smooth road?
Some of the struggles we have faced are obtaining new customers that are willing to give us a chance. Making the correct decisions when it came to financing options and dealing with the stress in a way that was healthy for me. I have been able to manage ways to handle these things in a positive way that is not only beneficial for myself but the company also.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the T.U.C Trucking story. Tell us more about the business.
We are a full-service trucking company not only are we able to handle transport needs but any logistics issue that may arise. We specialize in oversize freight and being able to find out the core need of a company so they are not overspending when it comes to transport. We focus on managing and building relationship so there is a true feel of understanding between the customer and our team. That is a big part of what sets up apart from other companies our customers are not just customers to us. We are a part of their team and the goal of our team is great service, the ability to understand products, great prices, and fast quotes that we stand by.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
With the new ELDs coming into play I do feel the industry will have to improve the way things happen and shipments are being loaded. Drivers won’t be able to have long wait times because of the driving restrictions so I think the loads may be paying more but the drive times would be rough on the drivers.
