Hi Laina, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Tycoon Denim was created by a “Denim lover” with a pragmatic business mind, an entrepreneurial spirit, an international outlook, with an appreciation for luxury.
Growing up with a fashionista mom who would wear heels to the grocery store I was destined for the fashion industry. Fashion found me!
I went to school for criminal justice graduated worked at law firms through Houston but somehow fashion kept coming back to me.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Starting a business was a smooth road for me. I started my brand during the pandemic in 2021 which could have been a major struggle but it wasn’t I had more time on my hands, people were on the internet more and my creative juices were flowing out of control.
Throughout my journey, there have been struggles and one of them would be finding someone reliable and dedicated to helping me sew. I’ve had two people quit on me right in the midst of me coming out with a new project. Looking back, I’m thankful for that because it forced me to take a sewing class and make my own pieces and rely only on myself.
