Hi Laura , so great to have you join us again. For folks who might have missed our earlier conversations, can you please take a minute to briefly introduce yourself?
My name is Laura Brown. I have been in retail management most of my career, and also have been able to play a huge part in an amazing small business that helps rescue dogs. Not many people can say that they have a career that they love, and are also able to pursue their passion and something that has always been near and dear to my heart… helping rescue dogs.
How does your product give back to the community?
Pibborafi makes plush versions of real rescue dogs, then we donate to rescues and foundations that each owner chooses. A local dog named Bubbles won the contest in a past year, and her plushie has raised money for several local shelters. We also donated a batch to a local Houston women’s shelter for children that have been affected by domestic violence. Pibborafi also donated a batch of another plushie designed after a rescue dog named Maggie to the cancer floor at Texas Children’s hospital.
Outside of your business, what hobbies or interests do you have that also helps the community?
I also foster dogs for a couple of amazing rescues in Houston (SOCA and Honoring Hope and Faith Rescue). Many shelters are in crisis and people are returning the dogs they adopted during quarantine. Shelters are overflowing, and being able to foster them helps save lives. We are currently fostering a mom pup that was dumped with her puppies at a gas station. Her puppies are also in foster homes until they are adopted. Please consider fostering a dog to help save lives right now. The rescue covers costs and vetting. They just need a comfy home full of love until they find their forever homes.
What is your favorite product that you have available?
I actually became involved with Pibborafi when my dog Maggie won their contest years ago. Of course, she would be my favorite product if I had to choose one. But each dog has their own unique story and has helped rescue dogs and children across the country in various ways!
