Laura, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
COLOR MAKES ME HAPPY! I have always been a makeup, clothes, a self-proclaimed vintage junkie, and making people feel their absolute BEST. Personally, playing in my Grandma Ruby’s makeup was my favorite pastime as a kid. In 2018, a friend told me about the House of Colour (“HOC”), and I was immediately intrigued as it seemed to tie together my absolute favorite things in life into a business. At the time, there was not a HOC consultant in Houston, so I drove to Dallas to have my Colour Consultation. During my Colour Consult, I discovered what colors worked well for my coloring and not to mention uncovering my perfect lipsticks!! Who doesn’t want to know their best lipstick colors?! Immediately my thoughts were confirmed about the business, and I was hooked!
The next step was to learn my “style.” At my style consult, I learned what clothes/accessories work for ME based on my body architecture, personality, and lifestyle. This was truly LIFE CHANGING! I had always worn cardigans & khakis’, while I love an good cardigan, and for many people it works, it did not match my unique personality. My clothing personality is ROMANTIC NATURAL…think of me as an exuberant pirate! An “over the top look” feels just right for me, whereas someone else would be too much. Nine times out of ten, you can find me with a colorful scarf on my head! My outside matches how I feel on the inside. I started my franchise because of the confidence I have gained through House of Colour. I can’t wait to bring FUN, ENERGY, and CONFIDENCE in the community!
Has it been a smooth road?
The road to becoming a Colour and Style Consultant with HOC has been a fun ride! Last year I went to 2 weeks of training and met other “color nerds” who have become lifelong best friends!

Discovering your “Clothing Personality” will help you better choose elements such as patterns, texture, and style details that go together to create an authentic signature style that reflects confidence and makes it fun to get dressed each morning! You’ll be able to filter through the latest fashion to recognize what suits you confidently.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
House of Colour is a UK based company, currently with around 40 US consultants. We are growing rapidly, and in the future, I would love to see a HOC consultant in every city. After a Colour and Style Consult with HOC, shopping becomes easier, saving individuals money because they now have a closet full of clothes they love and work for them! You have a sense of confidence as you get dressed every morning. Making people are happy & confident…who wouldn’t want that offered in every city?!
