Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Gabriela Vazquez.
Laura Gabriela, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Makeup has always been a Type of therapy for me even as a child makeup would give me a sense of self-confidence I didn’t have. When I got hit by a drunk driver at 16, my entire world was flipped upside down I realized I wanted to do something that I loved for the rest of my life, makeup. I began this makeup empire as an influencer and then slowly started showing people my work before I knew it was getting questions such as “where can I book you” “how much do you charge”. I enrolled in makeup school to get certified and now I’m filling up my calendar with clients all over Houston and inspiring young girls to follow their dreams as well.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Being a minority in the makeup industry means you have to try a little harder and being only 18 means you have prove you belong in the makeup community. I’ve faced my own hardships internally and externally and I’ve learned that you can only grow and learn from the hardships and take the negative energy and make it a motivation to put more effort into your craft.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
Laura Gabriela is a brand the specializes in makeup as a makeup artist. I want my brand to embody who I am as a person. And the thing that I feel that sets me apart is my imagination and motivation to make each one of my clients feel empowered and confident.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The quality that I feel like is most important to my success is love, the love I have for my craft is what makes my makeup so unique. I pour my heart into each one of my clients and it shows at the end. Without the love for makeup this brand wouldn’t be what it is. I wouldn’t be who I am.
