Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Galindo.
Hi Lauren, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Growing up, I wanted to be an attorney in corporate law. The subjects in which I studied also pushed me towards law school. It wasn’t until I declared my major in Criminal Justice that it all started to change. I began to feel uncertain about my future because I no longer felt that “spark” to be an attorney. As I continued my educational studies in Criminal Justice, I decided to make it a personal goal to obtain a degree. After removing my self-pressure to become an attorney, I started to follow my heart. From then on, I knew an opportunity would present itself that would soon give me purpose.
Shortly after, my birthday came around and I wanted my age displayed in three-dimensional florals. I reached out to florists who specialized in floral design and unfortunately, I gave too short of a notice for what I was wanting. I then had the idea to take on the project myself since my grandmother was a florists for 30 years. Growing up, I watched her make hundreds of arrangements and knew I could make it happen. I took on the project and it was a success. All of my birthday party guests were asking me who did my floral numbers and when I told them I did them myself, everyone was in disbelief. Their compliments and reactions to my work inspired me to start my very own floral business, Petals to the Heart. I was already familiar with the floral industry because I spent so much time with my grandmother at work. I remember watching her as a little girl and admiring her work and how she could make such beautiful floral arrangements. There was an instant “spark” that I felt starting Petals to the Heart, everything felt so right.
Once I established my floral business and found my groove, I was inspired once again. I realized how rewarding it was to witness people’s reactions when receiving flowers and feeling so loved. I wanted to replicate that feeling for more people because it came with such a positive impact. After brainstorming on how I could bring positivity, love, and joy to light, I decided to start my very own clothing brand, Libra Feels. I specifically wanted to cater to women so that they feel strong, confident, and beautiful in what they wear. I have always been complimented on my style and having the ability to tell women that they can too have what I am wearing brought me pure joy. The name “Libra Feels” is simply my zodiac sign mixed with the modern term “feels”; a representation of an overwhelming amount of emotions. I envisioned my clothing brand welcoming all women and to promote their self-confidence and discover their inner and outer beauty- it has done just that!
It has been an amazing journey these past two years as a business owner, and I have learned so much along the way. My businesses are growing, and I can’t wait for what the future holds!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
My journey has not always been smooth sailing. Being a full-time student and owning two businesses is no easy task, but good things don’t come easy. There were times where I felt I couldn’t do it because I had too much on my plate in the midst of schoolwork, creating websites, curating content, doing inventory, scheduling photo shoots, and managing social media. Although I felt overwhelmed, I can proudly say through the support of my family and friends, I did it.
