Thanks for sharing your story with us Laurin Jo. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I come from a strong line of women! Hailing from Indianapolis, the women in my life love helping others, so naturally, it was in my blood. I created this blog while pregnant with my now two-year-old, Riley Jo, as an outlet for me but also to help other moms with things that I had to figure out the hard way like buying diapers and making your own baby food. It eventually turned into travel, fashion tips, and even DIY projects!
This journey has been amazing, to say the least; we have been truly blessed! The support that we’ve received from our family, friends, and followers has been epic! We still have a long way to go, but we are off to a great start!
Has it been a smooth road?
Not at all… being 16 hours away from “home”, I had to learn everything the hard way. Everything is trial and error, but with God and countless friends, I’ve made a life for myself here in Houston. The main thing that keeps me going is realizing life isn’t perfect for ANYONE; not on social media or in real life. Challenges will come up, but it’s my responsibility to put my faith into action and stay strong!
One specific struggle that I’ve had to deal was learning when to take breaks, relax, and enjoy life. I am always on the go, but sometimes it’s okay to sit back and enjoy the little things in life. Now, I make sure I have at least two “mental health” days a week. For my sanity, and for others! Haha! I LOVE the little blessings in life like laying in bed with my daughter watching Netflix eating sushi.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the The Life of Jo Jo Blog story. Tell us more about the business.
‘The Life of Jo Jo’ is a mommy and mini lifestyle and travel blog. We love shining light on products, companies, and events that we feel our followers should know more about. Since we’ve started our blog one year ago, we have partnered with companies like Fabeltics, Sweet and Sassy, Neutrogena, and even Disney!!
Our dream would be to run a full-time blog while partnering with some of the biggest names in the home improvement and hospitality business. We love DIY projects, wearing and creating matching clothes, and experiencing new things!
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Blogging and being an Influencer is a trend, but I see the industry going up even more in the years to come. Micro and Macro-Influencers are great because they can reach a different audience that may have never heard about a company. That’s where we come in and partner with them to spread the word! It’s a great feeling knowing I am educating our followers and sharing new experiences with others!
