Meet Lee Harless of Stampede Houston in North Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lee Harless.

Lee, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Stampede was built to be Houston’s, biggest and most state of the art, Country Music venue. We started this project four years ago. We opened the doors with a concert with Billy Currington. We have had many artists since then including, the Great Merle Haggard, Zack Brown Band, Cody Johnson, Mickey Gilley, Josh Abbott Band, Brett Eldridge, Clay Walker, Tracy Lawrence, Lee Brice and Gary Allan to just name a few. We wanted to be known as a destination and not a local honky tonk. Our motto is “It’s a Texas Thing”, we all know that everything is bigger in Texas. We have a capacity of 4000 and 30 thousand square feet of Country bliss. Stampede is continuously growing and upgrading to the newest and latest technology in night life.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth ride by no means. With such a big venue, we quickly learned that the amount of people it would take to fill up most clubs in Houston, would not be enough for us to look busy. With the help of an amazing staff we are able to bring the masses back every weekend.

Please tell us about Stampede Houston.
Stampede Houston not only provides great live entertainment. We are most known for our massive 2,000 square foot dance floor. Stampede has become a world famous venue with many private parties as well. I am proud that we are able to adapt to any situation that the market calls for. We were able to host the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots’ welcome party this year for the Super Bowl. With the spotlight on us, our staff and venue were up to the task and the event was amazing. With our DJ, Live music Stage, mechanical bull and full Karaoke bar upstairs, we provide what other venues cannot, “everything”. What sets us apart from others is the simple fact that you can visit Stampede two nights in a row and have completely different experiences and it would not feel like you came to the same venue.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
As a child, my favorite memory is meeting a country artist named Sylvia and fishing with the Great George Jones. My mother was a back-up singer for country music artist Faron Young, so meeting artists like Gene Watson, Billy Joe Royal and such was amazing, although who knew it would lead to me working in the country music entertainment business.
