Today we’d like to introduce you to Legaci.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Legaci. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born in Newark, NJ but moved to Texas at the age of 6. I grew up in a household filled with music. All kinds of artists, Selena, The Ramones, Nas, Naughty By Nature, and Frank Sinatra, just to name a few. Naturally, it was something I always wanted to do. I started writing at the age of 12 and started recording myself by 13. By 15, I knew this was something I could become passionate about and try to form a career from it. I’m an independent artist at the moment. I continued the collective my uncle created called “Evil Wayz Entertainment”. Its been the backbone to my career ever since.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I don’t think any journey is ever really smooth. Like everything in life, it had its obstacles and learning courses. Acceptance and proving I deserved a shot was a big thing for me. Being a kid in middle school, going into this was kind of nerve-racking. Having to learn to just be me and create the music I wanted to make, but at the same time trying to fit in at school. School was another big battle. Sitting in class was hard when my mind was focused on lyrics, producing on garage band on my phone, or thinking of ideas for a mixtape cover. My mind was always in another space.
Please tell us about Evil Wayz Entertainment.
When you read “Evil Wayz Entertainment”, right away people assumed it had to do with something negative or associated with bad energy. Evil Wayz stands for and represents one thing. Resilience. Taking in all the negative around you. Whether it be people’s opinions, struggles in life, internal issues, and using them to your advantage. Accepting what is, and pushing through. In High School, my best friend/manager Noah Sanchez or “Jynx” and I, had a lot of people repping Evil Wayz. Upperclassmen, people in our grade, we were known as the two guys that made music but had the small shows, merch, the CD’s to really back up what we did. It was never just talk with us, we always had action and accomplishments to follow behind what we did.
What were you like growing up?
I was a shy, calm and very to myself kid. I dealt with a lot of health issues, as well as anxiety, OCD, and a panic attack disorder. It was a tough childhood in that sense but home, homemade it all worth it. Once I hit middle school and decided I wanted to make music, I started to step out of my comfort zone. Spoke to more people, I was more open about the music I made. When I started making music, I actually wanted to make Punk/alternative music. Kind of like The Ramones or The Gorillaz. I actually learned to play guitar at six and it just stuck around with me into the music I make now Hip-Hop.
