Meet Leila Mizell of Phoenix Beauty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leila Mizell.

Hi Leila, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I discovered my love for makeup as a teenager. Like many young girls, I didn’t always feel beautiful. I was awkward, wore thick glasses, and spent hours studying beauty magazines, teaching myself how to recreate the looks I admired. What started as curiosity quickly became a gift. My friends jokingly called my process “the transformation,” long before professional makeup artistry became as popular as it is today.

As I got older, I became the person everyone called for weddings, special occasions, and milestone events. Creating has always come naturally to me whether through makeup, singing, or design but I realized my greatest passion wasn’t simply applying makeup. It was helping women see themselves differently.

Today, Phoenix Beauty is built on that belief. I often say I paint a picture for women that they can’t yet see for themselves. Every woman is beautiful, but not every woman recognizes it. The most rewarding part of what I do is watching a woman look in the mirror and see her confidence come alive. That’s why I do what I do.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely wasn’t a smooth journey. One of my biggest challenges was finding my own voice as an artist. Early on, it was easy to compare myself to others or feel pressure to follow every trend. While it’s important to continue learning and evolving, I eventually realized that true artistry comes from having the confidence to develop your own perspective, trust your techniques, and create work that reflects who you are.

Another challenge has been navigating an industry that often celebrates youth above everything else. As I’ve matured, I’ve come to appreciate that beauty doesn’t have an expiration date. In fact, I’ve become passionate about helping women adapt their makeup techniques as they age so they continue to feel confident and beautiful in every season of life.

Those experiences have shaped not only the artist I’ve become, but also the heart behind Phoenix Beauty. My mission is to help women embrace who they are today not chase who they used to be.

As you know, we’re big fans of Phoenix Beauty . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Phoenix Beauty is more than a makeup studio, it’s a transformation experience. My goal has never been simply to apply makeup. I want every woman who walks through my doors to feel seen, celebrated, and truly cared for.

I’ve created a luxury beauty bar where clients can relax, enjoy spa-inspired skin preparation, indulge in paraffin hand treatments, sip champagne, and experience an elevated makeover that feels as special as the occasion they’re celebrating. Whether it’s a birthday, wedding, photoshoot, or simply a day to invest in themselves, I want every client to leave feeling more confident than when they arrived.

Education is also at the heart of my brand. I offer private and group makeup lessons, both in person and virtually, helping women master professional techniques they can confidently use every day. My passion is teaching women how to enhance their natural beauty in a way that feels authentic, timeless, and appropriate for every stage of life.

Beyond beauty services, I’ve created Club Phoenix, a community where women connect, encourage one another, and celebrate life’s milestones through social events, retreats, and meaningful relationships.

At Phoenix Beauty, we don’t just transform how women look, we transform how they see themselves. That’s the heart of everything we do.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Without question, the person who deserves the most credit is my mother. She was my first beauty icon and my greatest inspiration. As a little girl, I watched the way she carried herself with grace and confidence. She believed that taking care of yourself wasn’t about vanity, it was about self-respect.

She had a gift for making everything beautiful, from our home to the way she cared for our family. She took pride in presenting herself with elegance, and she taught me that beauty begins with how you value yourself and the people around you.

Those lessons have stayed with me throughout my life and are woven into everything I do at Phoenix Beauty. More than teaching makeup, I hope to help women experience that same sense of confidence, dignity, and self worth that my mother modeled for me every day.
