Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay Soontiraratn.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Lindsay. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My interest in real estate started six years ago when I bought my home in Spring Branch. I noticed some changes in my neighborhood, so I started watching the market in my area. I just kept growing. Real estate had always been something I was interested in, but I was working a quite satisfying career, so I never really thought of going for it.
Everything changed when I crossed paths with a woman so full of energy and positive thoughts. She was a Realtor. She helped me realize my dream wasn’t so far off. She encouraged me to give it a go. Shortly after our first meeting, I was signed up for a real estate school. I knew the desire was there when I finished my classes in six short weeks!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Changing careers into real estate has been one of the hardest things I have ever done. It was more of an emotional hard than physical. Writing contracts, negotiating, sending documents, closing homes are the easy parts of real estate. When I got licensed, I really had no idea what I was getting into. Finding clients, putting myself in front of large groups, networking, advertising, those were the things I found most difficult.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I work under the brand Tammy Bateman Realtors. Tammy is my broker and had been in the business for over 20 years. We specialize in the Spring Branch/ Memorial area but serve the greater Houston area. The attention to detail our team provides when buying or selling a home is superior to many. There are a lot of great real estate firms out there, but when it comes to getting homes sold (which is the ultimate goal for us), we know what it takes to get the job done. We use professional photographers, staging, and marketing material. Most weekend, we can be found standing in an open house. We are always on call and will take on any challenge. I think what sets us apart from others is our devotion to the community. Tammy Bateman Realtors has been a proud sponsor of many community events and will continue to do so. We are huge supporters at the Valley Oaks Elementary, City of Spring Valley Village, and many other community building events.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success for me is about happiness and comfort for others as well as myself. A job well done from start to finish feels like success to me. When I decided to go into real estate, I decided to focus on the big picture. I have always been in a career focused on meeting the needs of others and making them happy. That feels like success. I’m not doing this for me right now. I am doing this for my family’s future. I want to be able to provide for my son’s education, retirement for my husband and myself, and my parents when the time comes. I knew that if it didn’t make me happy, I always had my previous career to fall back on. I am two years in and I don’t think ill ever look back.
