Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsy Steinberg.
Lindsy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My story starts with a wedding. I had the most beautiful wedding and unlike many brides, I never wanted the planning to end. I enjoyed the planning process so much and wanted to do it over and over (without having to get married again!) I started my own business and never looked back at my previous career. I grew my business on my own with grassroots marketing and word-of-mouth from amazing friends, family and clients. I am certain I found my passion in this industry of incredible talent.
Has it been a smooth road?
Anyone that owns their own business and tells you it has been an easy journey is not telling the truth. It has been an incredible journey where I have learned a lot. From each event, I have learned new things about myself, about the industry, about my clients and have made changes. As a small business owner, I have struggled with protecting myself legally, setting boundaries with my clients and figuring out how much I could personally take on at once. I continue to learn from each and every client and know that these struggles have made myself and my business stronger.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
My company is Lindsy Steinberg Events. We are a boutique event planning and design firm. We specialize in weddings and specifically, creating events that are personal and tailored to our brides’ unique styles and personalities. We truly believe that the best weddings are true to the bride and groom. I am most proud of our desire to go above and beyond for all of our clients. We make every effort to bring our clients’ dreams to life and on a wedding day, we do not rest until everything is exactly the way the bride wanted. We never cap our time on the wedding day. Some weddings require up to 18 hours of our time and we are fully committed to that. We are always the first ones there and the last to leave on a wedding day.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Houston is a wonderful city for us, and many other businesses. What is so great about Houston is that there is no need for harsh competition. There are so many weddings every weekend, there is plenty of work to go around. I love collaborating and bouncing ideas off of other event planners, and call many of them my friends. For someone just starting out in Houston, I would recommend networking. Join some of the local event planning organizations and make friends with all of the vendors. Houston is a big city, but this industry is a bit of a small world. Everyone knows each other and it is important to work well with other vendors since you will probably end up working with them again!
