Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Smith.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Lisa. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I joined the private ground transportation industry in February 1996. I have always been in Corporate Sales and even played Chauffeur many times for the higher end clients. I handled the RFP’s for corporate accounts, oversaw and coordinated Board of Director meetings. I have worked with the Global Travel Managers for corporations and Global Procurement Managers. Safety was always top priority and therefore worked with many corporate QHSE departments. Safety training was a large part of my job. Also, joined in on Chauffeur training for the corporate accounts. I worked with a very diverse group, from Oil & Gas, to Major Airlines. There was a time that I had 2 assistants as my responsibility was so great!!! I really enjoyed being onsite to coordinate major events for the clients. My groups were sometimes over several hundred inbound flights and after the event, coordinated their departures as well. I am now loving being in smaller company with the same standards, if not higher! Compliance is very important and I am working with an amazing TEAM.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road was very smooth as far as gaining clients. I had worked at a company that was so large that the TEAM was just not always on the same page. At RJL Transportation, we have the smoothest TEAM. The majority of us has worked together for many years in the past.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the RJL Transportation story. Tell us more about the business.
We provide corporate transportation with a diverse fleet and many years of experience between us. I am very proud that we all stand together with the same goals…all for the client! I am excited that I still assist some of the same travelers for more than 20 years. It feels good that they have so much trust in me no matter what company I am with.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I am not sure that it is luck when you enjoy assisting people and truly care for their safety. I do feel lucky that I have met and worked with a great number of amazing people.
