Lisa, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was a stay at home Mom for over 16 years when I started to experience the empty nest feelings. I began looking for a business to purchase or start. I have a degree in Business Management and was anxious to put it to use. After several months of research, I attended a session at the Dream Dinners store, and spoke with another customer about her experience with the store. She told me she drove from Katy and that I should open a store in Katy. The wheels of inspiration started turning. I went home and researched the franchise. I called the current owner of Dream Dinners to ask for her feedback regarding the franchise. During that call, she mentioned she was selling her store. Here I am a year and a half later, the Owner of Dream Dinners in Missouri City.
What I love about owning the store is the employees and their genuine eagerness to assist our customers. I whole heartily believe in the Dream Dinners mission of simplifying people’s dinner time needs and getting families back around the dinner table. We live in such a fast-paced society, it makes dinner time and reconnecting with the family so important. We all want a homemade lifestyle, however, we just cannot maintain it. That’s where Dream Dinners comes in and makes that possible.
Has it been a smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road. Once I took ownership machines/Freezers started breaking down at a rate I wasn’t expecting. The few changes I implemented were met with confusion. Some of the employees embraced change and others wanted nothing to do with change.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Dream Dinners – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Dream Dinners is a meal assembly company. We have seventeen menu items that change each month. Customers go online to choose their meals. They can either come into the store and assemble meals themselves or they can use our Made For You service. What sets us apart from the Box Meal Delivery service is Dream Dinners takes the shopping, chopping and clean up out the What’s for Dinner question. The meals you take from us are complete so no cleanup. Most cook in less than 30 minutes. Plus our meals can be customized which means if your family doesn’t like onions, don’t put onions in the meal.
Dream Dinners across the nation is a Christian based company that believes in keeping families together. Supports the family dynamics and genuinely wants to help simplify peoples lives. I’m extremely proud to be part of that mission.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I like most about our city is the family unity. Folks are involved in each other. The construction around my store is my least favorite thing about Missouri City.
