Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisaterri Casimir.
Lisaterri, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born and raised in Bronx, NY. I always knew that I was going to be a cosmetologist. I moved to SC in 9th grade and I started the cosmetology program in the 11th grade. I left the program during my senior year to move back to NY and live with my grandmother, who also died that year. I was devastated but I kept pushing. I moved back to SC and I started out as a freelance cosmetologist. I decided to enter Regency Beauty Institute. I worked in the Upstate of SC while in hair school. I actually went to hair school a total of three times before I was licensed. Even though life threw curve balls at me, I remained persistent and kept returning until I completed school in 2013. After receiving my license in January of 2014, I went straight into booth rental. I quit my full-time job with benefits to pursue my career full time. I was eager to learn and work, so I literally dived in headfirst. It was not until October of 2014 when I met my mentor, Valencia Mckinney, and really honed in on what I really wanted to do in the industry. I joined the Luxe Salon. I knew that I wanted to do color and master it, so I did. I became a master colorist and specialized in hair extensions.
In 2017, I moved to Houston and it was then that I became a traveling cosmetologist. I would work in my suite in Westchase and also travel to Spartanburg, SC, to service my clients there once a month. During this time, I also became a platform artist and also worked at the Bronner Bros Hair Show in Atlanta. January of 2019, I decided to move back to SC. I was still working in Luxe Salon servicing my clients but I knew I wanted more. In July of 2019, A’Mora Mane Beauty was born. A’Mora Mane Beauty provides quality hair extensions and also organic hair care products. I actually make 4 out of 5 of my current products. Grow Me Hair Growth Oil, Refresh Me Scalp Tonic, Release Me Lace Remover Shampoo and Moisturize Me Hair Moisturizer are all made from scratch by me. Now when I travel, I have my own products and that feels so good. I currently travel and work in four states while also raising two wonderful children. If there is anything I could say to someone who wants to pursue their dream, I would say DO IT. We are our own worst critic and we tend to hold ourselves back but we shouldn’t have the spirit of Fear and we should go after what it is we want in life. I could of let life get in the way but I chose to make by dreams a reality and you should too.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It was definitely not a smooth road but what road is. I struggled with death in my family, not having childcare, you name it. Not being able to find quality classes and even the right salon made the road bumpy.

I am a healthy hair care specialist, a master colorist, educator and CEO of A’Mora Mane Beauty. I am most proud of how my career has evolved and my company has expanded. What sets me apart from others is the fact that I don’t try to fit in. My company provides organic hair care products to help you maintain the health of your natural hair so that you can wear color and/or extensions.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I am working on expanding my brand and company. I will be adding more locations that I work in and more products. Big plans, well you will just have to wait and see.
