Today we’d like to introduce you to Liseth Adams.
Hi Liseth, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well, about one year ago I got married and received my wedding photos back. I’ve always loved photography but as I was checking the photos I seen this beautiful picture of my wedding cake. I got super emotional because my dad made my wedding cake. He learned how to bake by my grandfather who immigrated to the United States from Mexico. He passed away when I was younger but his legacy still remains. Shortly after, with all the money we received (we were broke newly weds haha) from the wedding we were able to afford a Canon R50 and the rest is history. My best friend was going off to her dream school that year. Ever since we were younger I watched her dream about getting in and the day had come! I offered to take some of her photos during her orientation week. It was also a full circle for her since her mother was an Aggie as well. She was so grateful that I could capture her as she transitions into university and well I fell in love with preserving legacy. In January I moved back to Houston and began my business full time and I have since then fell in love with helping business owners create content and of course capturing seniors as they are in that beautiful transition period.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Well, truth is starting a business is not easy but I am very blessed that I have an amazing community and family. Both my husband Chris Adams and my father Joel Montes have been my support on days I was discouraged. They definitely motivated me to keep going.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I currently specialize in branding photography. Whether you’re a solopreneur, entrepreneur, doctor, lawyer; I am your girl. In my top package I help capture a modern headshot, lifestyle pictures, tech mockups, client interaction, tools of trade and so much more! It’s ideal for anyone launching a business or simply wanting to elevate your online business presence. As a small business owner myself, I take pride in helping other business owners with their content. Let’s be honest keeping up with content can be challenging, tiring and overwhelming. That’s where I come in, I truly care about you and your business from day one and I do everything possible to ensure that you have 1-3 months worth of content when you leave a branding session.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Well, I’ll address the elephant in the room and talk about AI. My least favorite subject. As a branding photographer this is constantly getting brought up to me. More specifically AI flyer, and well I am not here to shame anyone but more so educate business owners on consumer uses. I recently did a survey on my instagram because I noticed something.. Gen Z hates AI (for the most part). I asked questions like “would you completely try not to shop with a business that useses AI flyers as advertisement. Out of 60 voter 30% said yes, 20% said it depends, 43% voted I will try to avoid it if possible. Let’s do the math on that. That is a whopping 93% of Gen Z consumers are viewing your AI Flyer and there is a barrier. There is a lack of trust and I know what you’re going to say “well that doesn’t automatically mean there will be a lack of trust.” Well, I went ahead and asked in the same questionnaire “when a business owner uses a AI flyer how do you perceive that business?” I got responses like “it icks me out’ “it’s sooo tacky” “I think it’s lazy” and the worst one was “Honestly, I automatically ignore the business. I don’t want that for anyone or their business but here’s the truth. Gen Z grew up with technology since we were basically babies we grew up with amazing brands like Rhode and Skims who had top tier marketing. We are constantly impressed and when we see a AI flyer many people transfer it in their minds as “cheap marketing = cheap product” I think using AI is sorta inevitable at this point because well it’s literally in my editing software but I do believe that there should be an open talk about using it responsibly. I’ll admit this, I use to use AI in the beginning of my business. I wanted to sound more “professional” and then boom it became a habit. Well, as you can imagine owning a business your brand voice matters and when you’re giving it to a soulless software are you doing what’s best for your business? In the end I have gained more satisfaction in my craft and believe that it’s possible for everyone.
