Meet Lorna Jackson of Every Ribbon Tells a Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lorna Jackson.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Lorna. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
I am the daughter of Linda M.White, who is a 2x Breast Cancer Survivor. With her sharing her story with others was an inspiration for me to start a nonprofit organization whose mission is to assist the UNinsured and UNDERinsured with medical needs. The way to accomplish this mission is to work side by side with similar organizations.

Being that there are so many people dealing with more than just breast cancer, we decided to extend our services to All Ribbons. We also provide the platform for those who are willing to share their stories with others who may be “going through “ a health “storm”. In June, we have our “A Man & His Ribbon” Luncheon, where we provide the platform for men to share their stories.

If so, they are:
Lorna Hardeman- Jackson
Linda Mayhan White
Ron Mullen
Nakia Bryant
Alessandro Bell
Denise Woodard
Cynthia McNelty
Bianca Franklin
Cheryl Alfred

This was inspired by my grandfather Fred D. Hardeman, Sr. and two uncles, who all died from Cancer. Every Ribbon Tells A Story was est. November 10, 2014, all members of Every Ribbon Tells A Story to represent or have a loved one who represents one or more Ribbons.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Yes, it has been a struggle at times. Being that we are rooted in a small community, the support hasn’t been as great as I thought it would be, however, with much prayer and dedication from the members, we are determined to keep pushing forward and continue on this journey that God has put before us.

We’ve had members to leave, but God always saw fit to send some very dedicated people who believe in the Mission. When God gave me the vision, I knew HE would provide all that I needed to make it prosper.

Please tell us about Every Ribbon Tells a Story.
Every Ribbon is a nonprofit Organization. We are dedicated to assisting the UNinsured and UNDERinsured with medical needs. We are known for our dedication to our cause. What I’m most proud of is our Each One Reach One Program.

A lot of people are too prideful to ask for assistance, so we decided that each member will choose a month to help someone. What makes this such an awesome program is, the person that is chosen has no idea that ERTAS is going to bless them with a “Hand Up.” It gives us so much joy to give when the giving is unexpected.

What sets us apart from others, we are a group of individuals who are dedicated to serving the needs of the community in which we love. We are small in numbers but strong in our dedication to serving others. But most importantly, we are transparent.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory is learning how to drive at the age of 12.
